The Rutledge Report

The Dodd-Frank Act, Title X, created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which became fully operative in July, 2011 with the recess appointment by President Obama of Richard Cordray as Director.

The CFPB or "Bureau" is a new Federal agency dedicated to the protection of consumers in transactions including real estate and mortgage lending.

The Bureau with unprecedented, independent rule making authority is now responsible for the regulation of several Federal consumer protection statutes such as the Truth in Lending Act, TILA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, ECOA, and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act or RESPA.
